Birmingham City new boy Darren Ambrose has paid tribute to the Crystal Palace supporters.

The midfielder, who scored the goal against Sheffield Wednesday that kept the Eagles in the Championship in 2010, made the move to St Andrews after three years in south London.

“I had a fantastic three years at the club and it was probably one of the best parts of my career,” Ambrose told Crystal Palace’s official site.

“I appreciate everyone’s support over the years at Crystal Palace, through the good and the bad times.”

The goal against the Owls is the one that Ambrose treasured the most.

“It was a tough situation we found ourselves in when we went into administration and to come out of it, the way we did, was one of the greatest seasons of my career,” he added.

“I have been involved in some great games with Crystal Palace and I sincerely wish the club every success in the future.”
