Cardiff City boss Malky Mackay is likely to rest Craig Bellamy for their game with Millwall ahead of their trip to Crystal Palace on Saturday.

The Welsh star was instrumental in helping the Bluebirds to a win over Leeds but has also just returned from a calf tear.

“I couldn’t care less about all that. People do like to blow things out of all proportion,” said Mackay.

“Craig’s been nothing short of first class since he’s been at this club. We’ve got a top class player.

“Barring the injury I have had nothing else to deal with. It is his body that needs to be managed.

“He’s not ready to start yet. He’s not done a lot of training and we have to be very cautious.

“We’ve got two away games coming up and I’m going to be cautious in terms of how he’s played over the next couple of weeks.

“He’ll be part of the group for Millwall, but as to whether he’s involved we will have to wait and see.”
