Holloway keen to make most of Palace’s potential at Posh

The new Eagles boss watched his team go top of the table after they thrashed Ipswich 5-0 at Selhurst Park in midweek.

Holloway, who quit Blackpool to fill the vacancy left by Dougie Freedman’s move to Bolton, is relishing the challenges ahead.

“I can only do my best and we will just have to wait and see, and I know if we had lost in midweek, I would have been facing a lot of different questions,” said Holloway, who has penned a four-and-a-half-year contract with the south-London club.

“The Ipswich game was a banana skin, but we managed to not just step on it but we squashed it and will try to move on, so let’s get on to Peterborough next.”

Holloway, who still has a home base in the north west, added: “The staff have been fantastic, but I have to get a few personal things straight now so I can give absolutely everything to this community.

“Potential is what you make of it and this club is in a better shape than it has been for years.”

Peterborough remain in the bottom three after they lost in stoppage-time at Brighton.

Posh boss Darren Ferguson, though, has targeted a quick response tomorrow.

“We have no time to feel sorry for ourselves and if we play like we have in our last two home games then we will have a good chance against a team that has gone top,” said Ferguson.

“It will be tough, but if we get a display similar to the ones against Derby and Huddersfield we will give Palace a difficult game.”
