Crystal Palace defender Darcy Blake has heaped praise on his Wales team-mate Gareth Bale after the Spurs man’s match-winning brace in their 2-1 victory against Scotland.

Bale scored a penalty before blasting a sensational 89th-minute winner as Chris Coleman’s side battled back from 1-0 down to claim a hard-fought World Cup qualifying victory in Cardiff.

And after Bale’s heroics, Blake described him as one of the best in the world.

“I thought we deserved to win, we created a lot of chances,” said Blake.

“It was a sloppy goal at the back that we conceded.

“But we grew into the game and got stronger and Gareth Bale popped up with our winner at the end.

“He can run defenders, he causes them all kinds of problems, he’s up there with the world’s best.

“He was on it in this game, he put that goal in and it was brilliant.

“It was a great feeling and I think we thoroughly deserved the three points.”
