Ex-Spurs star Darren Bent’s police officer cousin charged with theft

A serving Met Police officer is to appear in court accused of theft.

PC Richard Bent will appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on September 19 charged with two counts of theft, allegedly committed on July 13. The officer, based in Westminster, was suspended from duty on July 14.

Bent, 28, is the cousin of football ace Darren Bent, who has previously played for London clubs Tottenham and Charlton Athletic, before moving to Aston Villa. He has scored four goals during 13 games representing England.
