The Lions ended their season by winning five of their last six games

Millwall manager Kenny Jackett believes that the Lions’ impressive recent form could give his side momentum going into next season.

The south Londoners have won five of their last six games to finish 16th in the Championship.

It’s a sharp turnaround from a few months ago when the Lions were hovering just above the drop zone.

“We’ve finished 17 points off relegation, but I think I didn’t sleep for seven months, but it’s a big gap all of a sudden there,” said Jackett.

“It was a very good end to the season and it should give us confidence going into next year. You don’t see the kind of run we’ve been on in this league.”

Millwall rounded off their season with a 2-2 draw against play-off bound Blackpool at The Den with Andy Keogh and Harry Kane finding the target for the Lions.

“On the day I thought we more than matched Blackpool,” he added.

“The game went one way then the other with us starting well and them coming back.

“I like the way Blackpool play, I think they’re a competent side both in possession and out, and their model is one that we would love to base ourselves on.

“They’re a side that can score out of nothing, even if the game is quite low-key and there’s nothing much happening. They’ve got a lot of quality there.”
