Millwall have been handed a boost after it was revealed that two of their key players should be fit for the start of the season.

Defender Shane Lowry and midfielder James Henry picked up injuries during the pre-season tour of Ireland but physio Bobby Bacic is confident about their prognoses.

“Shane (groin) and James (knee) both have short-term injuries, but should be ready for the opening day of the season, while Shaun Batt and Josh Wright will both train this week,” Bacic told the club’s official website.

“The injured players who did not travel to Ireland are looking to resume training soon. Darius Henderson and Liam Trotter will join the main group on Tuesday, as will Tam Mkwandawire.

“However, Tam is going to begin by gently introducing himself back and building up his exposure over the next two weeks.

“Paul Robinson has had a minor blip in his rehab, with a small infection, but we hope to have him running at full speed again later this week, once the infection settles totally.”
