Millwall midfielder Jimmy Abdou knows that his side face a tough task against Championship high-flyers Brighton at The Den tomorrow.
The Lions played out two draws with the Seagulls last season and the Lions ace is looking forward to the challenge, despite going into the game after two straight defeats to Hull and Cardiff City.
“We’re ready for that,” he said. “It’s going to be tough.
“Brighton are a very good side. We’ll forget about this game and focus on them.”
Abdou has formed an excellent partnership with Josh Wright in the centre of midfield but he knows that some work needs to be done.
“Our season, for the moment, has been up and down so we try and find our way,” he explained.
“I’m just looking to stay in the team and to play more games and if I score then it will be a bonus.”
The Comoros international was full of praise for his midfield partner Wright and revealed the friendship in the Millwall camp.
“He’s a good player,” Abdou explained. “Every player I play in the midfield is a pleasure.
“I’ve been here for a long time now. They’re my mates. I enjoy playing with everyone.”
The midfielder has been delighted with the way new signings Karleigh Osborne, Chris Taylor, Danny Shittu and Scott Malone have settled in.
“I think they’ve settled in well and they’re a big part now in the squad,” Abdou added.
“Everyone is close-knit and we’re pulling in the same direction.”
