QPR manager Harry Redknapp is desperate for his side to end their winless start to the Premier League and avoid becoming the side who had the longest winless start to a campaign.
The R’s hold the record jointly with Swindon Town, who went 15 Premier League games without a win at the start of the 1993/94 season, and failure to beat Wigan will mean they hold the unwanted statistic outright.
“I didn’t know it was a record,” Redknapp said. “I’m not looking at records.
“It’s just a bad stat anyway. We need to put it right as quick as we can really.
“I’ve been pleased with the two performances. We edged the game against Villa.
“The players have been good lads to work with so hopefully we’re not too far away.”
The Rangers boss has been impressed with the quality of training the players have produced during his first two weeks in charge.
“The intensity in training has been first class,” he added. “They’ve trained well.
“You need a group of players to be successful and keep out of trouble. We need everybody to keep pulling together.”
When asked what changes had he made behind the scenes, Redknapp replied: “Not too many really. I can’t say I have.
“These are the players that are here. You can’t bring anybody else here.
“I’ve got what I’ve got and I couldn’t be more pleased with the effort that they’ve shown. We just need a result now.”
