QPR manager Mark Hughes believes that Tottenham’s winner should not have stood and criticised referee, Phil Dowd, for failing to penalise Spurs in the build up.
After Alejandro Faurlin’s own goal cancelled out Bobby Zamora’s opener, Jermain Defoe fired home to give the north London club the win over the early season strugglers but the R’s boss felt that there were two fouls in the build up.
“For the second we are very disappointed with the referee,” he added.
“In the build up, there was a clear foul on Esteban Granero then an even more blatant foul on Nedum Onuoha.
“As he is running back towards his goal he gets taken out, but the referee didn’t think it even warranted a free kick.”
