Chelsea interim manager Rafael Benitez has confirmed that John Terry will remain as his captain.
The former England international is currently unavailable after injuring himself against Benitez’s former club Liverpool on his return from a four-match ban for racially abusing Anton Ferdinand.
Former manager Roberto Di Matteo backed his player in the face of criticism and it appears that the Spaniard is doing the same.
“We will see in the next game,” Benitez said when asked if the former England international will keep the armband.
“But I am really pleased about the things I know about him.
“He is helping the young players, working very hard for the club, so I don’t see any difficult situation in this case, for me.
“Normally yes, he will stay as captain.”
