Gianfranco Zola has praised the impact of Roberto Di Matteo
Chelsea legend Gianfranco Zola believes that his former club are in the “best possible hands” under interim head coach Roberto Di Matteo.
The Italian replaced manager Andre Villas-Boas in March after a run of indifferent results and it is not known who will take full-time charge at Stamford Bridge in the summer.
While Zola would like to manage the club he admits the time is not right for him.
On the possibility of managing the Blues, he added: “Chelsea? I’d be a hypocrite if I said that I wouldn’t want the job, but I don’t think there are the right conditions in place for that.
“As a Chelsea fan I always want the team to be in the best possible hands, as they are right now with Roberto Di Matteo.”
