Chelsea interim head coach Roberto Di Matteo has confirmed that Gary Cahill and David Luiz will miss the game against Blackburn though injury.

The pair picked up hamstring injuries last month against Barcelona and Tottenham respectively and the Blues are hoping that they will be back for next Saturday’s Champions League final against Bayern Munich.

“David Luiz and Gary Cahill will not be available for Sunday,” Di Matteo said. “Now we are trying our hardest working towards next Saturday for them two.

“We hope to have them in training next week.

“They’ve been out for three or four weeks.

“At the end of the day with the suspensions we have to try as hard as we can.

“We always try to get them back as soon as possible and we tried but he wasn’t ready and so now we’re trying for the last game.”
