Team News: Wigan v Chelsea
Chelsea new boy Oscar may be handed his debut in tomorrow’s Premier League opener at Wigan.
Blues boss Roberto Di Matteo confirmed summer signing Oscar could be involved at the DW Stadium despite having only arrived at his new club yesterday after playing for Brazil at London 2012 for much of the past few weeks.
Fellow new boy Marko Marin remains sidelined by a hamstring injury.
The Chelsea chief said: “We only have Marin out injured, everybody else is OK. In terms of the new signings, Oscar has finally joined us after his Olympic Games and they are all available for Sunday.
“Oscar has only been in the building for a day and a half, so we will see. I still have to think about it for Sunday, but there will be plenty of time to play.”
Juan Mata also played at the Olympics for Spain, as well as in Euro 2012 earlier this summer, and Di Matteo admitted the winger will need a break from action at some point this term.
“He has had a long summer but I will factor in a break for him at some point because it’s important,” conceded Di Matteo. “He won’t be able to go through the whole year like this. We will have to plan it intelligently.”
