Fernando Torres called on Spain to win their remaining games at Euro 2012
Chelsea star Fernando Torres believes Spain must now win their matches against Croatia and the Republic of Ireland to progress after drawing 1-1 with Italy on Sunday night.
Antonio Di Natale gave the 2006 World Champions the lead before Cesc Fabregas equalised for the reigning European and World Champions.
“We could have won or lost. I would not say it’s a setback, but is a result that could have been better,” he said.
“We have to win all of our remaining matches now. What matters is that Spain must win whatever the situation or the opposition.”
The Blues striker also singled out Andres Iniesta for praise.
“[Andres] Iniesta played a big role in my chances but Buffon saved the game for Italy. We both had chances to win,” Torres added.
“[Italy] became fatigued and the entry of [Jesus] Navas did a lot of damage. Iniesta found more space between lines and was the man of the match.”
