Gary Cahill will miss the European Championship with Martin Kelly called up as his replacement
Chelsea star Gary Cahill has been ruled out of Euro 2012 with a broken jaw that he suffered against Belgium
The defender picked up two fractures to his jaw and the England medical team have been in contact with the Blues’ doctors.
Cahill, who will be replaced by Martin Kelly subject to Uefa approval, joins Frank Lampard [thigh] on the sidelines.
The 22-year-old full back only made 12 league appearances for the Reds and has been picked over Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand.
The news was met was implied anger from Red Devils star, originally left out of the squad for ‘football reasons’, who tweeted “What reasons?????!!!”
Meanwhile, fellow Chelsea defender John Terry has been given the all clear after picking up a knock against the Belgians on Saturday.
