Frank Lampard has told England not to underestimate Ukraine when they lock horns in tonight’s World Cup qualifier at Wembley.
The Chelsea midfielder scored twice in England’s 5-0 victory over Moldova in their Group H opener but is expecting a much harder test against Ukraine.
Lampard insists Roy Hodgson’s side will have to be patient as the visitors are likely to be fired up for the occasion at Wembley.
“They showed some bright sparks in the game against us at the Euros,” Lampard told the official England Matchday Programme.
“They had some great players such as Shevchenko in the past, so they’ll be looking now to bring through younger players and fill that gap.
“Like everyone, they’ll be coming to Wembley determined to play well.
“I wasn’t surprised by them at the Euros as you know at any European Championship how high the level of the teams is going to be, particularly the home nations.
“People expect you to roll over certain teams, they make you favourites, but they are technically good players and you have to play against them in the right manner so nothing surprises me.”
