Transfer news: Gael Kakuta is keen to move back to France
Gael Kakuta has admitted he wants to leave Chelsea and sees his best option as a return to his homeland with Marseille.
The Frenchman moved to Stamford Bridge as a youth player in 2007 but has found chances in the senior side hard to come by.
He was loaned to neighbours Fulham and then Bolton Wanderers last year before a similar move to Dijon earlier this year.
Now 21 years of age, the winger is keen to play more games and thinks that his best chance lies away from England and the Premier League.
“My decision is final. This is an important time in my career. It’s better for me to leave the club [Chelsea] and find one where I could play more matches. I need to play,” Kakuta told L’Equipe.
He added: “In hindsight, I think the Ligue 1 will do me good. Marseille are one that I like. In France, Marseille is up there with Lille and Lyon, two of three clubs that I’m interested in most.
“I’m not worried about Marseille. With the players they have, the club is not finished. In the coming months, the club will start to shine.”
