Much is expected this season from Belgium star Eden Hazard.

The former Lille midfielder, 21 was a £32m summer signing for the Blues.

With a running style that mirrors former Blues hero Joe Cole, Hazard lined up on the left side against Brighton.

Here is his contribution:

Two minutes; A nice touch back to left-back Ashley Cole.

Four; Bundled over after holding onto the ball too long.

Six; He attempts a classic one-two with Michael Essien - however he lacked the pace to get to Essien’s return pass.

23; He forced a free-kick to aid his team-mates after they were put under pressure by Brighton.

29; Along with Cole he produced an offensive excellent play on the left.

34; Dispossessed by Bruno on midfield and thiswas his last contribution of the half.

56; He is moved to the right, he produces a simple pass to Mikel.

74; He tries a trademark long run on the right wing, easily tackled.

76; A tasty back heel to Essien to continue a quick counter-attack

85; First effort on goal, a long-range effort which sails over the Brighton crossbar

Chelsea boss Roberto Di Matteo said of Hazard’s contribution: “I played Hazard on the left, I was looking for him to be incisive.

“But we have to be patient with him and go e him tome to adapt to the English league style of play.”
