Pepe Reina believes that the Chelsea striker looks switched on

Liverpool star Pepe Reina believes that Fernando Torres is back to his best after a difficult season with Chelsea.

The Spanish striker endured a goal drought that lasted over 24 hours but scored eight goals in the last 16 games of the campaign as he returned to the goal trail.

“It’s been a while since I’ve seen him like this,” Reina told BBC Sport. “Physically, he is in good shape.

“Mentally he feels he is an important player in the national team, all the more so since Villa pulled out, and he relishes that role.

“He feels comfortable and he looks switched on. Hopefully, he will have a good European Championship and Spain will feed off his goals.”

Torres is likely to lead the line for Spain at Euro 2012 after David Villa was ruled out after failing to recover from a broken leg he suffered in December.
