Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech insisted that Liverpool striker Andy Carroll’s header did not cross the line.

The Reds frontman had a bullet header saved by the Blues stopper on the goal line late on as the Merseyside club looked to level matters.

“I don’t think it was over the line,” the Blues stopper told ITV.

“If the ball was behind the line I couldn’t have done it.

“I’m sure it was not behind. It was a great decision by the officials.

“I knew it from the first moment and I think he got it right.”

The goalkeeper is looking to add another trophy to his collection in two weeks time.

“It’s fantastic what we have achieved,” he added. “Hopefully we can make it two [by beating Bayern Munich in the Champions League final].

“I’ve won the cup for the fourth time and it’s still fantastic.”
