Chelsea new boy Marko Marin is not surprised that other Bundesliga stars have made the switch to Premier League clubs.

Marin joined from Werder Bremen, while Lukas Podolski (Cologne) and Shinji Kagawa (Borussia Dortmund) joined Arsenal and Manchester United respectively from the German top flight.

“German football over the last few years has improved and there a lot of good young players in the Bundesliga, so if they perform well other clubs see this,” Marin told Sky Sports News.

The 23-year-old is under no illusions that it might be struggle to break into the first team given the attacking talent the Blues have.

“I have to show my qualities and play as well as I can, and if I do this then I am not afraid and I am sure I will play,” he said.

“Nobody has assurances that they will play, but if I do well then of course I will play.”
