Chelsea chief executive Ron Gourlay has revealed that a joint partner will be announced in two months to sponsor both the European champions and the Sauber F1 team.

Chelsea and Sauber formed the innovative partnership in April, with Chelsea’s brand being trumpeted at a series of F1 races.

But Gourlay claimed this would be the first time that a sponsor had come forward to back both parties, helping them increase their global reach.

“The first commercial joint venture will be announced in two months’ time,” Gourlay told delegates at the International Football Arena in Zurich, declining to identify the proposed backer.

“You are going to see some results of the partnership very soon.

“We both want to be winners in our field and have the same values. Through our relationship with Sauber, we can go into 19 different markets in one season.”
