Barnet player/joint head coach Edgar Davids is delighted that Crystal Palace wonderkid Wilfried Zaha, who has been linked with Arsenal, Tottenham, Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool and Newcastle has been doing so well for the Eagles.
The 20-year-old made his England debut last Wednesday, coming on as a substitutewith five minutes remaining in the 4-2 defeat against Sweden.
The Dutchman spent a brief time with Zaha at Crystal Palace and has been impressed at hoe he has improved.
“I’m happy for him,” he told London24. “He kept developing.
“When I was there he was still a kid and making mistakes that comes with being young.
“His end product was not always there so I’m happy that he develops himself into a national team player.”
Davids was not prepared to weigh in on the debate as to whether Palace should let him move to the Premier League or remain at Selhurst Park to develop.
But he hopes that the 20-year-old can, one day, reach the highest level.
“I hope he can make it,” he added. “It’s all about development.
“Only the player can answer that question. I don’t know his development right now.
“He knows better and people around him know better if it’s time for him to move a step up.
“I hope he can do it but you have to be ready for it and think it’s easy – it’s not.”
