Brentford defender Marcel Eger has left the club by mutual consent.

The 29-year-old German made 22 appearances for the Bees after joining from St Pauli last summer but has not made an appearance since the west Londoners’ 3-2 defeat to Huddersfield in January.

“On behalf of everyone at Brentford Football Club, I would like to thank Marcel for his contribution and wish him all the best for the future,” manager Uwe Rosler said.

“He fulfilled an ambition by coming to play in England and was well liked by the players, staff and supporters.

“He was a complete professional during his time here.

“He played 22 games for us and would have played more but for an ankle injury.

“Marcel represented both himself and the Club in the perfect way throughout his time at Brentford and will always be welcome at Griffin Park.”
