The Dons travel to the Lamex Stadium for their Capital One Cup first round clash

AFC Wimbledon striker Jack Midson is expecting a tough physical test when the Dons face Stevenage in the Capital One Cup first round.

The south-west Londoners make the trip to the Lamex Stadium on Tuesday marking their first game in the League Cup proper – they played in the preliminary round last season.

“It will be [a tough game],” Midson told London24. “We know what they’re all about and they’re a very physical side.

“Although they’ve lost Graham Westley, who promoted the physical stuff, they’ll still be strong.

“They’ll play a bit more football than they have done.

“We need to match them physically and on the work rate and maybe we’ll get a win.

The Dons are playing their cup game before the league opener for the second successive season but this time the whole of the first round is doing that.

“It’s a bit strange but we had that last year,” he added.

“We had the preliminary round against Crawley.

“Our main aim has been preparing for the Stevenage game.

“I think after the Portsmouth second half I think we are peaking at the right time for the Stevenage game.”
