Tottenham and Newcastle are waiting in the wings to take advantage of any Gunners slip-up at The Hawthorns.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger expects West Brom to be at their best on Sunday as the Gunners look to close out a Champions League spot.

The north London club know that they will claim third if they beat the Baggies but Tottenham and Newcastle are waiting in the wings to take advantage of any slip-up at The Hawthorns.

“We have a massive game in front of us but we are focused, switched on,” Wenger said.

“We need to be combative and relaxed

“I expect our opponent to play at their best. We got that against Stoke and Norwich.

Arsenal were languishing at the wrong end of the table in early September and the manager is delighted at how far his side have come after their awful start.

“I think it’s remarkable that we are where we are today,” he added. “We came from very deep in the table.

“It has been an interesting season. It has been very unpredictable. The differences between teams is smaller.”

The Gunners boss also paid tribute to outgoing West Brom boss Roy Hodgson.

The Baggies manager will leave the club after Sunday’s game to take charge of the England team and his Gunners counterpart hailed the job he has done.

“Roy Hodgson’s teams are well-organised,” he said. “They play 4-4-2 and that’s a system he has been faithful to. He has stabilised West Brom”
