Bacary Sagna happy Gunners have future in their own hands

Bacary Sagna was pleased with Arsenal’s draw with Stoke at the Britannia, belieiving it could be a vital point in their quest to finish third in the Premier League.

Robin van Persie cancelled out Peter Crouch’s early strike and with fourth-placed Newcastle crashing to a 4-0 defeat at Wigan, the Gunners are four points ahead of Alan Pardew’s side.

The Magpies have a game in hand but Sagna is pleased to be in front rather than chasing.

“Some teams are behind us but we know we have our destiny in our hands,” he said.

“We’ve worked a lot to come back to third place and we want to stay and qualify straight away.

“They (Stoke) are a very physical team. The play a lot with free-kicks and they attack with the ball.

“But we managed to come back. It was very important because it’s never easy to get some points here but today it might be a very important point.”
