Arsenal’s Coquelin: Capital One Cup is a big chance for silverware

Midfielder Francis Coquelin is confident Arsenal can triumph in the Capital One Cup this season as they look to end their seven-year trophy drought.

The Gunners face League Two Bradford in the quarter-finals next month, with Chelsea the only other top four club left in the competition.

Coquelin played in the Gunners’ 6-1 thumping of Coventry City in the third round and their remarkable 7-5 win over Reading.

The 21-year-old knows Arsenal have a big chance in the competition and is hoping to progress to the last four with victory at Bradford.

“Well if we can show the same spirit that we showed in the second half against Reading, and even in the game against Coventry, then we have a good chance to go through and maybe win the cup,” he told Arsenal’s official matchday programme for Saturday’s 3-3 draw with Fulham.

“It’s a big opportunity to get silverware,” he added.

“Maybe people will look at us and Chelsea as the favourites, but we are only thinking about Bradford.”
