Arsenal transfer news: Italian could make a move for Gunners skipper

Roberto Mancini has admitted that Manchester City could make a move for Robin van Persie this summer.

The Arsenal striker was in top form for the Gunners this season, bagging 37 goals in all competitions to help the north Londoners to third in the table.

Van Persie’s contract expires at the end of next season and the player is set to have talks with the club after this summer’s European Championship.

“We will sign a striker if one of our forwards will leave,” Mancini told Tuttosport. “We want to keep all of them.”

“Van Persie is a top class player. His situation is different than the [Gael] Clichy and [Samir] Nasri ones, when we signed them. It was difficult to keep them at London for Wenger.

“It’s impossible to sign Cavani at his current price, Van Persie is different.”
