Hayes is Moore than happy that Bees keeper has penned new deal

Brentford striker Paul Hayes believes keeper Simon Moore has the ability to get to the top of English football after his match-winning spot-kick stop gainst Carlisle.

The goalie saved a Joe Garner penalty on the hour mark with his side 2-1 up to keep the Bees on course for victory after the forward had given them the lead.

Hayes feels Moore, who last week signed a three-year contract, has what it takes to play at the highest level.

“It is massive that he is performing really well,” Hayes said. “His attitude is spot on and he is willing to learn.

“He has all the attributes to go to the top.

“It is fantastic for us players to know that Simon’s not leaving for another three years.”

Hayes, 29, who scored his third goal of the season in the victory over the Blues, believes Brentford can beat anyone in League One on their day.

The Griffin Park outfit are unbeaten in their last five league matches and will be looking to carry their good form into their next two fixtures away to Preston North End and Swindon.

Hayes said: “We are playing well, we are understanding the game and we have got a good quality squad - so we are going to go to anyone and expect to win.”

Nonetheless, the forward understands that with 29 league games still to be played the season is a long one.

“We know it is going to be tough there are some big teams in here,” he said. “We don’t want to be racing ahead, be in the top two and then slip up so we know that we have got to be there or there abouts.”
