Jose Mourinho has insisted that he wants John Terry to stay at Chelsea beyond the end of the season.

The former England international is out of contract at the end of the season and could leave the club he has played for for his entire career.

Terry has formed a solid parternship with Gary Cahill and many believe the captain is grooming his defensive partner to replace him as skipper.

“The only idea I have is that the manager [me] wants him to stay,” he said.

“But the contracts are between player and club.

“We will find the right moment, the club knows that I want him to stay, the club wants him to stay, he wants to stay, so normally he is staying.”
