Blues midfielder will be a frustrated watcher next weekend in Munich

Chelsea midfielder Ramires has admitted he did not know his booking in the Blues’ Champions League semi-final second leg clash against Barcelona would keep him out of next week’s final in Munich until the post-match celebrations at the Nou Camp.

The Brazilian picked up a yellow card in the first half for dissent, following John Terry’s sending off.

The 25-year-old went on to score before the break to reduce the score to 2-1 on the night, while Fernando Torres netted late on to ensure a 3-2 aggregate win.

That booking was his third during their European campaign, ruling him out of the match against Bayern Munich, although he did not realise he would miss the final until entering the dressing home at full time.

“To be honest, I didn’t realise,” Ramires told the Telegraph.. “We were celebrating and the television in the dressing room caught my eye and someone came up to me and said ‘there’s a yellow next to your name, it means you are not playing’. All I could say was ‘oh, no’.”

“I was much happier that we had got through to the final.”

However that still could not appease the frustration he feels about having to watch the match from the stands.

“Your heart is out on your hand,” he added.

“I cannot stand still. I feel so, so nervous. I will kick the chair, I will walk up and down. I can’t sit down for a minute. My wife cannot sit beside me because I don’t even really want to watch the game. I feel out of my mind. There’s nothing I can do.”

“Even though I feel so nervous and so agitated the way I feel is also so positive. I want to help my team-mates out on the pitch. I want to pass my energy to them to help them carry on.

“It’s going to be hard to watch the final but if it’s going to depend on my vibe, my positivity then we are going to win easily. I will be the biggest fan in the world.”
