Daggers 4 Bristol Rovers 0

Brian Woodall scored a brilliant hat-trick as Dagenham & Redbridge ended the season in style.

Woodall’s treble, plus a fine second-half goal from Danny J Green saw the home side record their biggest victory of the campaign and finish 19th.

One change for Daggers saw Josh Parker come in for the final match of his loan spell, to replace Scott Doe – missing with a hernia problem, which will require surgery in the summer.

Rovers, roared on by their large travelling support made a determined start and Matt Harrold volleyed against the bar on three minutes.

Talisman Mustapha Carayol pulled the strings in the middle of the park but, after an earlier flourish, the spark went out of his and the visitors’ game.

Daggers soon settled and Woodall saw a low effort from the edge of the box saved, after good link-up play with striker partner Josh Scott.

And Scott hooked a volley over as his quest for his first goal at Victoria Road since January 2011 continued.

But Daggers did eventually take the lead on 24 minutes. Parker crossed expertly from the right and Woodall volleyed in at the near post.

The sides continued to trade blows for the remainder of the half as Harrold and Elliot Richards kept Chris Lewington busy, while Parker dragged a low drive wide across goal.

After a slow start to the second half, Woodall once again had the home faithful on their feet with a goal of exceptional quality on 54 minutes.

A long ball forwards from Luke Howell was expertly controlled and after some fine skill to bamboozle defender Aaron Downes, Woodall volleyed past debutant keeper Conor Gough from just inside the box.

The points were wrapped up on 64 minutes when half-time substitute Green jinked through the Rovers defence and finished coolly past Gough for his first-ever Daggers goal.

Woodall completed his treble with a fierce low finish from a difficult angle, after good work by Medy Elito.

Green went close again in the final minutes, but his shot across goal was pushed out by Gough.
