Fulham’s Kieran Richardson hopes his move to Craven Cottage can help him break back into the England fold.

The 27-year-old, a deadline day signing from Sunderland, won eight caps and scored two goals for England during his time at Manchester United but hasn’t featured since 2006.

After completing his transfer to Martin Jol’s side, however, Richardson is targeting an unlikely England comeback.

“It’s strange being at the training ground when it’s an international break and there’s just six or seven other lads with you,” the versatile left-footer told Fulham’s official website.

“It does make you miss being involved for your country.

“But I want to get Fulham right first and if things go well, hopefully I can get back in that England squad.”
