QPR manager Mark Hughes has hailed Tottenham midfielder Mousa Dembele, a player he brought to the Premier League from AZ Alkmaar while manager of Fulham.

Dembele signed for Tottenham from the Cottagers last month for £15million and the Belgian is likely to start against his old manager when Spurs host QPR on Sunday.

Hughes is fully aware of the threat posed by the 25-year-old and has made no secret of his admiration for him.

“I’ve got a huge regard for Mousa,” Hughes told reporters.

“He’s an outstanding player and now he’s at a club which - no disrespect to Fulham – has a higher profile, he’s getting a lot more attention.

“I always knew that when he came to the Premier League he would make an immediate impact.

“He’s technically very accomplished; he is able to play a number of positions. That’s the quality of the player we are talking about.

“I knew almost immediately when he went to Tottenham he would be a success.

“Spurs fans will enjoy watching him.”
