Video: Joey Barton speaks in French accent after Marseille debut

QPR midfielder Joey Barton has defended his decision to conduct an interview in a French accent.

The on-loan Marseille man made his Ligue 1 debut for L’OM in their 1-0 win over Lille.

He wrote on Twitter: “In my defence, it is very difficult to do a press conference in Scouse for a room full of French journalists.

“The alternative is to speak like a ‘Allo Allo!’ character which is choose. It’s simply a case of you had to be there.”
