Jermain Defoe believes Tottenham’s first victory at Manchester United in 23 years shows that they can win anywhere, including the noisy neighbours.

Spurs travel to the Etihad Stadium on Sunday to face the Red Devils’ bitter rivals City in the Premier League.

They lost twice to the Roberto Mancini’s side last term, including a late 3-2 defeat on the road, but Defoe thinks that should hold no fear for his side.

“If you win at United, you can win anywhere and not just in England, anywhere in Europe,” Defoe told Spurs TV Online.

“They are one of the biggest clubs in the world and to go there and play how we did in the first half, that performance was unbelievable.

“The second half was a little different, but you get that at Old Trafford. If we can do the same at City it would be fantastic.”
