Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is hopeful that star man Nemanja Vidic will be able to return to the side to face Tottenham.

Jonny Evans started alongside Rio Ferdinand with the Serb absent in the Red Devils’ 2-1 win over Liverpool.

“He was just feeling a bit tight round about his knee and we decided just to give him a break today. Hopefully he’ll be alright next week,” said Ferguson.

The 30-year-old is expected to be rested for their Capital One Cup tie with Newcastle.
