Spurs star: I’ve told team-mates we can be tired in the summer!

William Gallas has told his Tottenham team-mates that they will have plenty of time to be tired on their holidays, and has urged them to “give everything” before then.

The 34-year-old France international made his 11th appearance of the season as Spurs beat Swansea 3-1 on Sunday.

And Gallas has revealed that he has been a vocal influence in the dressing room, urging the Lilywhites on as they eye the defining climax of their campaign in the Premier League and the FA Cup.

“I think the confidence is back. After the draw against Chelsea and the victories against Bolton and Swansea, the confidence is back,” the defender told Spurs TV Online.

“Now, like I said to everyone, every game is a final for us. We have to be strong if we want to finish third.

“We have to play every game with 100 per cent, and at the end of the season we will go on our holidays and feel that maybe we deserved to finish third.

“Before that we have to give everything. Before the game we have to speak together and we have to know that we are not tired, and that we can be tired at the end of the season.”

Fatigue will certainly be an issue this weekend as Tottenham prepare for two games in the space of three days.

Spurs face a tricky trip to Sunderland on Saturday, and then return home to host Norwich at White Hart Lane on Easter Monday.

Manager Harry Redknapp said: “It’s going to be a juggling act playing on Saturday and Monday. It’s going to be the survival of the fittest, trying to get two teams ready.

“We have got a long trip up to Sunderland for a tough game and then we have to come back and play Norwich at home. You are going to have to change the team around.

“I think Aaron [Lennon] will be ready for 90 minutes but you won’t get two games out of him at the weekend – no chance.

“He’ll play one game – whichever one I choose to play him in. He keeps getting little hamstring problems and I think he and the medical people would be a bit wary of playing two games in quick time.”

Younes Kaboul added: “We travel up to Sunderland on Saturday, and I think it’s going to be one of the toughest away games.

“Since January, since [Martin] O’Neill took the team, they’ve been brilliant. They were very good at the weekend against Manchester City [where they drew 3-3], so we need to go there with full concentration, and in good form.”
