Michael Dawson is desperate to stay at Tottenham and win back his place in the team, despite new manager Andre Villas-Boas trying to sell him in the summer.

Club captain Dawson was close to joining London rivals QPR before the close of the window but the move broke down over personal terms. He was also linked with Sunderland and Stoke.

And despite not making the bench yet this season, the 28-year-old says he has no intention of leaving the club and wants to stay and fight for his place.

“I wanted to stay and fight for my place, as simple as that,” he told Tottenham’s official website.

“Everyone knows it, the manager knows it, I’ve been at Tottenham for seven-and-a-half years, it’s where I love playing my football and I want to be back playing.”
