Newcastle United winger Hatem Ben Arfa has ruled out the chance of moving to the Far East this summer.

The Frenchman has fallen out of favour under Alan Pardew at St James’ Park and was offered a big money move to Qatar this month.

The 27-year-old is a fans favourite on Tyneside and questions have been asked of Pardew for under-using the talented playmaker.

West Ham and Tottenham are both on the hunt for a winger and Ben Arfa fits the bill at the right price – although Monaco, Everton and Borussia Dortmund have also been linked.

A move to the Far East has now been ruled out and the players’ agent has confirmed his client wants to remain in Europe.

Agent Michel Ouazine told L’Equipe when asked about a move to Qatar: “This is false.”

“He remains on a one-year contract at Newcastle and Hatem has the intention to continue to play in Europe.”
