West Ham manager Sam Allardyce knows that his side face a tough test in their next three fixtures.

The Hammers, coming off the back of games against Manchester City, Newcastle and Stoke, travel to Tottenham on Sunday before a midweek trip to Manchester United.

Their week ends with a Saturday lunchtime clash with Chelsea, under new manager Rafael Benitez.

Allardyce said: “We’ve just played Manchester City, Newcastle away and Stoke.

“They’ve been three big games. The three in the six days. It’s hard enough if the fixtures are put together in slightly less than six days.

“It’s a tough week for us.

“We’ll find out what we’re made of and are we going to continue to accumulate the points we’ve had up until now.”

These are the games that the Hammers battled so hard for in their season in the Championship and the boss is hoping to add to their points tally after an impressive start.

He added: “I think that players at our football club worked so hard last year for fixtures like this at the bigger end of the Premier League.

“These are the games players look forward to. You want to give a good account of yourselves.

“It’s all about accumulating the points. It’s about picking points up and moving towards a total that you need.”

It is quite possible that the Hammers could not pick up a single point from their next three games but Allardyce will be happy if they play their best and it is not good enough.

“We know that we are in a very good position,” he added.

“Down the line, with this group of fixtures, may prove difficult to gain points. I don’t think we’ll let ourselves down.

“We can play our best in all three fixtures and lose them all. If Tottenham, Manchester United and Chelsea play at their best then they’ll win and then Liverpool and West Brom after that.

“All those teams are in good form. It’s about playing our best.”
