Hammers boss and striker up for npower prizes

West Ham duo Sam Allardyce and Ricardo Vaz Te have been nominated by npower for the Championship Manager and Player of the Month Awards for April.

The Hammers enjoyed an unbeaten run last month that saw them narrowly miss out on automatic promotion, despite impressive wins such as the 4-0 victory at Barnsley and a 6-0 demolition at home to Brighton & Hove Albion.

Allardyce is nominated for the award alongside Millwall boss Kenny Jackett and Malky Mackay of Cardiff City, who West Ham coincidentally face in tonight’s play-off first leg tie.

Vaz Te scored six goals in April, including a hat-trick against Brighton, and is nominated alongside Millwall’s Maik Taylor and Adam Le Fondre of league champions Reading.

The winners are due to be announced on Sky Sports News tomorrow morning.
