Mark Robson wants to promote an attacking brand of football

New Barnet head coach Mark Robson has insisted that he intends to bring an attacking brand of football to the club after he was appointed on Sunday.

The former Peterborough coach was also impressed with the vision that chairman Tony Kleanthous and director of football Paul Fairclough had in mind.

“Firstly, let me just say that I am delighted to be here and to get the opportunity to work at Barnet FC,” he told the club’s official site.

“I was aware of the potential that this club has, but after I first spoke to Paul Fairclough and the Chairman, Tony Kleanthous, I was even more impressed with their vision for the club and the direction they are aiming to take it.

“The club has spoken about a new ‘philosophy of football’ it is looking to instill, and this brand of attacking, entertaining football fits me like a glove!

“Once I knew this was the aim of everyone at Barnet, it was an opportunity I couldn’t turn down.”

The new Bees boss will be working hard to bring in new players straight away.

He added: “I am aware the squad is quite small in numbers at the moment, but we have managed to maintain some talented players and I am looking to bring in players who can improve the team even further and who can contribute to top half football.

“That has to be the aim for the new season. We have had a difficult few seasons, where we have finished just above the drop zone for whatever reason, and this is something I want to change.

“I want the whole club to look forward and think positively.

“I plan to bring an attacking, entertaining style of football to the club and I want the fans to enjoy this season - for the results, the performances on the pitch and the style of football we will play.”
