Clevedon United Junior Football Club held their annual presentation day with more than 250 players receiving a trophy.

CLEVEDON United Junior Football Club held their annual presentation day with more than 250 players receiving a trophy.

The club split the awards into two sections, with Bristol City captain Liam Fontaine and England Under-21 goalkeeper Jack Butland presenting the prizes.

Awards – Under-9 Lions – most improved: Sam Dewfall; players’ player: Max Pope; manager’s player: Ty Leaman. Under-9 Tigers: Emily Nicholson; Ciaran Clarke; Reuben Mills. Under-10 Panthers: Owen Vowles; Nathan Turner; Will Jones. Under-10 Lions: Jenson Henley; Will Davey; Tyler Williams. Under-10 Tigers: Jake Hopkins; Adam Livingston; Kieran Gregory. Under-11 United: Luca Murray and Matthew Battagel; Thomas Warren; David Clarke. Under-11 Youth: Luke Palmer; Caleb Selway; Ethan Coles.

Under-12s: Dougal Stagg; Billy Blackall and Harvey Wintle; Toby Petteford; Under-13 United: Mason Parslow; Mason Parslow; Sam Cooper. Under-13 Youth: Harry Morrison; Rob Jones; Mitch Treanor. Under-14s: Andy Fortune; Caspian Short; Tom Parsons. Under-15s: Ross Noble; Connor Macrichie; Max Hayden. Under-16s: Charlie Aldom and James Dunn; Billy Bristow; Jake Llewellyn and Kaine Gazzard.

ENGLAND goalkeeping legend Peter Shilton presented bronze medals to Portishead Under-12s for finished third at a tournament in Devon.

The boys took part in an annual tournament over two days in Woolacombe, Devon, playing against strong competition with teams from all over the south west region.

The team finished third and were awarded their medals at the grand final celebration ceremony.

Under-12s coach Dave Appleford said: “The boys made us all proud indeed, not only with their performance as a team but the way they conducted themselves overall.”

The players wish to thank parents for their support, McDonalds for their sponsorship, and to the dedication of the manager/coaches Kris, Rob and Dave.

The Under-11s enjoyed another great season in the Woodspring League, managing a League Cup winners trophy and a league runners-up spot.

Coach Mark Williams has been delighted with the progress of the squad in this first season at 11-a-side and boasting the best defensive record in the league conceding just 17 goals all season.

Congratulations go to Kieran Noble, Cody McNeil, Steven Wait, Matt Twiggs, Dane Richardson, Nathan Coules, Brad Patch, Morgan Davies, Kieran Smith, Warner Stephens, Harry Ford, Dylan Hebblethwaite, Archie Denness, Alfie Gardner and Josh Davis.

The Under-13s defeated Clevedon United 4-2 in the final of the cup to complete a league a cup double.

The defence of goalkeeper Will Bennett and the back line of Hugo Miles, James Robinson, Callum Jones and Oskar Todd were in good form, backed up by the midfield of Joe Hance, Tyler Manning, Alex Twiggs and James Whitfield, supported by wide men Luke Osgood and Tyler Ashmead.

Clevedon took the lead in the first half with a fine goal. After the break, a fine spell of pressure from Portishead resulted in a brave headed equaliser from Osgood.

Soon after Whitfield smashed in a free kick from distance and Osgood made it 3-1. Clevedon immediately responded to pull a goal back and with time running out, Osgood complete his hat-trick with a firm strike.

CLEVEDON United and Nailsea United Under-8s started their final game of the season with great energy.

Nailsea took the lead with an early goal in the first-half, but Clevedon hit back after the break with a Jamie Pegler equaliser.

Douglas Linnett made some fine saves in goal for Clevedon, backed up by a robust defensive team of Levi Greene and Thomas Walford, behind a potent midfield of Sam Carpenter and Abbie Howard.

Nailsea retook the lead with a free kick, quickly followed by a third goal. Clevedon battled on, with Tom Collins and Ollie Walsh taking the game back to Nailsea. Clevedon’s Kip Comra finished the scoring with an outstanding shot, but Clevedon could not find the elusive equaliser.
