What Gerrard said to Liverpool, Everton and Spurs men ahead of England debuts

Liverpool and England captain Steven Gerrard has told the likes of Raheem Sterling, Steven Caulker and Leon Osman to enjoy themselves.

While the Reds star is winning his 100th cap, the trio are making their debuts for the Three Lions.

“Just enjoy it,” he said. “They’re top players and have the best of their careers ahead of them.”

Gerrard admitted that he had never dreamed of reaching the milestone.

“Certainly not 100,” he added. “When I made me debut my target was always 50.”

Germany away was Gerrard’s favourite England performance with Paul Scholes and Zinedine Zidane named best team-mate and opponent respectively.
