Antonio German scored his first league goal with a minute remaining as the Brentford stole a point at Preston.

The Bees had failed to threaten Steve Simonsen in the Lilywhites goal for virtually the entire and had to rely on Simon Moore to keep the score down.

And when they failed to properly deal with a corner they were punished with Scott Laird’s scuffed effort finding the net just after the hour mark.

Preston made the better start and Harlee Dean made a fantastic block to deny the Lilywhites the opener.

Brentford goalkeeper Simon Moore was called into action as he had to dive low to his right to keep Nicky Wroe’s shot out.

Scott Laird’s free kick caused probems and Paul Huntington should have headed home from close range.

Brentford full back Shaleum Logan was a bright spot in otherwise a drab first half from the Bees, beating two players before teeing up Clayton Donaldson, whose cross was turned behind.

Moore gifted Preston a golden opportunity to lead when he picked up a backpass.

The free kick found its way to Stuart Beavon but the Bees stopper blocked his effort with the ball finding its way to Monakana and Moore held onto the ball from his strike.

Jack King should have given the Lilywhites the lead when he was able to break free of Harlee Dean but fired his shot wide.

Brentford went forward and Jonathan Douglas fired the ball over the bar.

With the first half drawing to a close Monakana fired over the bar to complete a dominant first half for the home side that just lacked a goal.

Brentford came out looking much better in the second half and Jonathan Douglas teed up Harry Forrester, but his shot flew over the bar.

But the Bees were behind after 61 minutes as they failed to properly clear a Wroe corner due to having everybody back defending.

The ball came back into the area, reaching Laird whose shot went straight into the ground but over Moore and into the net.

That lifted the Lilywhites tails and Wroe forced Moore into two sharp saves as they went for the kill.

Brentford still failed to test Simonsen and Preston countered and the Bees stopper Moore had to be alert to David Buchanan’s sharp effort.

Incredibly, with just a minute of normal remaining Brentford were on level terms.

The Bees had been pouring men forward and Dean’s cross was guided home by German to equalise.

The goal gave Brentford impetus and with five minutes added on they felt they could steal a victory.

But it was not to be as the two sides shared the spoils.
