Pearl Acclaim is sure to be all the rage in the opening race at Sandown this afternoon where the going is good to firm at the Esher track for their six race card that commences at 2pm.

The Richard Hannon trained son of Acclamation is fancied to get punters off to a good start in the opening five furlong Class 5 race for two-year-olds, having finished runner up to stablemate Havana Gold on his debut at Newmarket last month.

There he finished one and a half lengths adrift of the winner in a six furlong Class 4 and Havana Gold has since franked the form by easily beating a good field on the first of the three day Ascot meeting last week.

The stiff five furlongs today and the drop in class boost his chances further. Pearl Acclaim looks fairly priced at even money and should prevail.

Amazonas in the feature race at 15.05, a seven furlong Class 1 contest for two-year-olds, is another runner whose good form has since received a fillip, despite defeat.

She decisively won on her racecourse debut at Yarmouth in June, before finishing a four length fourth to 1000 Guineas favourite Newfangled in the Group 3 Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot. A repeat of that form will suffice.

In other races, the course and distance winner, Winner’s Wish is fancied in the 14.30. The Sir Michael Stoute trained Sash Of Honour (15.40) and Estebsaal (16.15), who was second on his debut at Newmarket, should both run well.

Bajan Bear is the each way tip in the finale at 16.50.
