The Bees have announced their retained list

Barnet have released Sam Cox, Darren Dennehy, Jordan Parkes, Dean Brill, Mark Marshall and Izale McLeod as the north Londoners clear the decks for the new season.

Mark Byrne, Clovis Kamdjo, Liam O’Brien, Mauro Vilhete, Andrew Yiadom, Ricky Holmes, Steve Kabba and Elliot Johnson have been retained for next season.

Negotiations are ongoing with Sam Deering, Mark Hughes and Jack Saville.

Barnet Director of Football, Paul Fairclough said: “First of all I would like to thank all of the fans for their unconditional support of the team this season.

“Some tough decisions had to be made in the last few weeks of the campaign and thankfully those decisions allowed us to get over the line once more.

“The support away at Burton Albion was overwhelming and left us all bursting with pride.

“However, we must be realistic and take stock of the entire season. Much criticism is always directed at the manager, but the players have to take ownership and some responsibility for an underachieving season too.

“In the absence of a new manager I have, again, had to make some tough decisions. Mark Byrne, Clovis Kamdjo, Liam O’Brien, Mauro Vilhete, Andy Yiadom, Ricky Holmes and Steve Kabba have all been given the seal of approval.

“New recruits from our scholarship programme, such as Elliot Johnson, have also been added to the mix, with hopefully a few more coming through over the summer.

“Apart from Steve it is a young squad. Steve will be spending time at Lilleshall rehab centre in the close season.

“We all know how exciting and dangerous he can be on the pitch, so let’s wish him a speedy recovery.

“The new manager, when appointed, will add some players of experience to the squad.

“The future of skipper Mark Hughes will lie in the hands of our new manager and, of course, Mark himself.

“The future of Sam Deering is dependent on talks with Sam and his agent. As is the policy here at Barnet, we will not be releasing any news until we have genuine information to report.”
